Bahara's Story

Bahara is 14 (in 2019) years old. She was only 9 when she had to leave Afghanistan because the Taliban was targeting her family. One of the struggles that she and her family face every day is that none of them are able to work and earn money. They are supported by IOM, but when the money given by IOM runs out, they cannot do or buy anything more until the next month. With four other siblings, it is difficult to live with very limited support.

The things she misses most about Afghanistan are the food and culture. They are very different compared to those in Indonesia. She enjoys playing soccer and drawing. Her hope is to study computer engineering in the future and do something related to that. She already has books that she reads every day to study computer engineering.
